CSOs in Moreh bat for equal benefit of sanctioned fund

Meitei Council Moreh (MCM) secretary general, N Inaocha, while speaking at a press meet held at MCM office, stated that out of the amount of Rs 143.77 crore awarded by the 14th Finance Commission, during the present financial year (2017-18) for the six Autonomous District Councils of the State, 90 percent of the funds should be allocated on population based on 2011 census and the remaining 10 percent on area.
Speaking on the utilisation of the sanctioned amount only in tribal areas of the ADCs , he asserted that District Council of Moreh is comprised of three constituencies, out of which numerous non-tribals are residing in two of the constituencies.

As for the proposition that the sanctioned fund should only benefit the tribal areas, Inaocha stated that the funds should benefit the non tribal areas as well.
Inacoha, on behalf of all the leaders of all CSOs in Moreh, called upon the State Government to look into the matter and take up necessary measures so that the fund do not impact any non tribals areas of the ADCs in the State.
Leaders of MCM, MMCM, Tamil Sangam, Gorkha Samaj also attended the press meet.
