Art and Culture Minister inspects proposed sites for film city, film school

A team of officials led by Art and Culture Minister, L Jayentakumar inspected the proposed sites for film city and film school at four different 1ocations in Thanga and Kumbi ACs today, followed by a visit at PHC, Thanga Oinam.
The khas land of Loktak Lairembi Lampak which is situated in the middle of Loktak lake, Chaoba Ching which was once occupied by the AR and is presently vacant and the 25 acres land of Keibul Sagram Takmu Pat were inspected by the Minister and his team, accompanied by MLA of Thanga AC.
Later, MLA of Kumbi AC S Bira took the inspection team to different areas of Kumbi, namely the 30 acres land of Haotak fields and the 2 hectare land of Haotak Chingya village which is presently used as a playground for the village.
The Minister later examined the proposed site to shift the PHC of Thanga AC.
The PHC in Thanga Oinam Leikai is presently located on top of a hill which causes great inconveniences to the patients.
The local MLA had urged the authority concerned to shift the PHC to a more convenient location, which led to today's inspection trip.
During the inspection, the Minsiter found several insufficiency in the Health Centre like the delivery rooms which were not furnished with tiles, lack of proper garbage disposal sites and insufficient manpower including doctors.
The proposed site of the PHC in Ngakha Leima Lampak, Thanga Chinglak (seven acres of land) along with the nine acres area at Houreng Chingyang Loktak Lairembi ground was thoroughly inspected.
Speaking to media persons, Minister L Jayentakumar stated that all the sites will suit its purpose.
He underlined the importance of opening a film city and a film school to promote arts and culture in the State.
Stating that the proposed sites have not been confirmed yet, the Minsiter assured that the work will be taken up after the Assembly budget session and after thorough discussion with the Chief Minister and the officers concerned.
MLA as well as PDA Chairman T Robindro Singh, Kumbi AC MLA S Bira, Director Film and Television Institute Nilot Paul, Commissioner Art and Culture M Luxmikumar, Additional Director Planning and Finance Dr Manikanta Singh and officials of other department were present during the inspection.
