Imphal, February 07 2017:
C Doungel, like many other BJP intending candidates who have been denied party tickets, has decided to join Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and fight the State Assembly election under its banner.
A joint meeting was held today at C Doungel's Sanjenthong, Chassad Avenue residence where BJP workers of Saikul AC, sympathisers and candidates who contested the last ADC polls on BJP tickets were present.
The meeting decided to resign from BJP enmasse.
C Doungel told The Sangai Express that there was large scale corruption and manipulation within BJP right from the stage of allotting tickets.
"BJP leadership have no sense of justice.
That is why I decided to quit the party", Doungel said.
Both Congress and BJP belong to the same league when it comes to corruption.
As such, one would find it hard to digest BJP's promise to eradicate corruption, he continued.
Notably, C Doungel was elected from Saikul AC several times to the Manipur Legislative Assembly and he also held different ministerial posts.
He said that as desired by the people of Saikul AC, he would fight the upcoming election on NCP ticket.
