Imphal, February 07 2017:
Transporters and Drivers Council (TDC) has clarified that it did not ask ICHAM to distribute fuel for passenger and commercial vehicles nor take responsibility for the distribution.
Speaking to media persons at the council's office at MG Avenue, H Ranjit, president of TDC said, "TDC did not ask ICHAM to do any of the things as alleged.
The union demanded the IOC to supply the fuel that it claimed had been brought into the State.
The Union did not accuse ICHAM of anything nor is there any need to" .
He pointed out that TDC is an apex body formed by the various transport organisations of the State and has been working tirelessly for the people braving many difficulties and hardships.
"The charges made by ICHAM are baseless.
And TDC has no reason to go to their office nor complain about shortage of fuel", he said adding that neither TDC nor ICHAM have no authority over the IOC and its decisions.
TDC simply wants proper and ample distribution of fuel, he added.
H Ranjit said, "IOC's job is to bring fuel into the State but it has failed in its task of distribution resulting in the fuel scarcity.
TDC did not ask ICHAM to provide fuel.
They do not have any right to stop the reservation system let alone stop it".
Urging the organisations concerned to stay committed only to their respective areas, he said that TDC is working tirelessly for the welfare of its members and the passenger vehicles and no other organisation need to overstep their boundaries.
He further asked, "Where or which oil pump is it that is providing fuel freely without any queues?" .
Ranjit pointed out that the whole situation is a result of the IOC's monopoly.
"Asking to put an end to reservation system is akin to asking to eliminate TDC.
How will the passenger service function if there is no reservation system?.
TDC lives to serve the people", he added.
