Imphal, February 07 2017:
Aggrieved by the manner the party ticket was allotted, office bearers and members of Keishamthong BCC have resigned from the party.
Speaking to media persons at the Pishumthong residence of former Minister L Jayantakumar this afternoon, leaders of different frontal organisations of Congress party declared that they will resign from the Congress.
Notably, Jayantakumar quit Congress party recently and joined National Peoples Party (NPP) to fight the election on NPP ticket.
Keishamthong BCC general secretary Bimolchandra Mangangcha said that they were sharing the highs and downs of Congress party under the leadership of L Jayantakumar for the past 15 years.
"This time too we were working to field Jayantakumar as a Congress candidate in Keishamthong AC and we were confident that he would win", Bimolchandra said.
However, the party ticket was allotted to one candidate who joined the party only recently through back door and this disappointed all the workers of the party, he lamented.
He informed that they would soon submit their resignation letters to the MPCC.
L Jayantakumar said that he had already completed house campaigns under the banner of Congress party but the party ticket was given to some one else in the last minute and it was such a humiliating experience.
Informing that he had quit Congress and joined NPP, Jayantakumar said that he would file his nomination paper on an auspicious day.
