Imphal, November 05 2020:
The Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation (RNYO) is imposing a bandh on National Highway 37, State Highways and a ban on all National projects within Rongmei inhabited areas from 6 am of November 9 until the State Government names the proposed tribal freedom fighters' museum after Rani Gaidinliu as approved by the Central Government and shifts the site to Tamenglong or Noney district.
In a statement today, RNYO said the organisation has been demanding the State Government to retain "Rani Gaidinliu Tribal Freedom Fighters' Museum" as the name of the proposed museum at Makhel village, Senapati district and shift its site to Rani Gaidinliu's native places either in Tamenglong or Noney district.
The organisation had submitted a memorandum regarding its demands to Chief Minister N Biren Singh on September 22 and gave the Government 15 days with effect from October 18 to act on the matter.
As 15 days have passed without any action from the Government, the organisation is compelled to launch the stir, said RNYO.
It also appealed all its federating units, clubs and organisations concerned to support the proposed stir.
