Imphal, February 11 2018: Mapithel Dam Affected Villages Headmen/Chiefs Organisation (MDAVHCEO) and Mapithel Dam Affected Coordination Committee (MDACC) submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, WRD and YAS Minister, Forest Minister, Phungyar local MLA and WRD Chief Engineer during their visit to Mapithel dam yesterday.

A press release issued by the joint secretary, MDAVHCEO, stated that according to the memo, the associations expressed desire for the authorities concerned to fulfil the demand of the affected people before commissioning the dam and stated that the associations are saddened by the declaration to inaugurate the dam on March 16, without paying compensation to the affected people.

On the other hand, the associations clarified that MDACC and MDAVHCEO were formed in the interest of the affected villagers and not according to the claims made by Mapithel Dam Affected Ching-Tam Organisation (MDACTO) on February 9 .

It clarified that the associations were not established with any other ulterior motives and demanded MDACTO to apologise within February 15 .
