Tamenglong, April 06 2018:
In view of the pathetic road, which passes Phaitoul village under Tamenglong district, locals and students of the area took out a rally demanding immediate renovation of the said road stretch.
One of the students who took part in the rally, told the media persons that the road began to deteriorate since the begining of the railway line construction in 2007, which has caused numerous inconveniences to the people especially the students.
There are three schools in the village and the heavy dust, the uneven road and inumerable potholes have caused untold grievances to the students.
Meanwhile, Kuki Inpi Women Wing (KIWW) Chairperson Boishi Singson said that there were three ways (road) that crossed Phaitoul village, however, with the beginning of railway work, only a bridge was constructed which acts as a one way road for the villagers.
The Chairperson continued that the heavy loaded vehicles for railway line works continued using the one way road for their transportation which gradually degraded the condition of the said road.
Considering the immense grievances of the villagers, the local leaders approached the railway authorities to repair the road where they (railway authorities) assured to construct only 500 metres of the total road stretch.
This would mean the repairing of only 1/3 of the total road stretch.
Seeking immediate attention of the State Government, the locals and students have urged the authority concerned to repair the road at the earliest.
