Imphal, April 06 2018:
Demanding justice for Huiningsumbam Thoungamba (12) who died after allegedly falling from the staircase of LJ Educare, at Singjamei Okram Leikai on April 1, the JAC formed in connection with the incident, organized a sit-in-protest at Naoremthong Kulem Leikai, today.
Speaking to media persons on the spot, the JAC's chairperson Th Sanahanbi Devi decried the Government's failure in finding out the truth of the unfortunate incident.
She asserted that the death of Thoungamba is highly suspicious and claimed that there may be foul play behind the incident, adding that the authority of LJ Educare did not inform the parents in time, but rather informed the uncle of the deceased child.
The physical condition of Thoungamba's dead body also raises suspicion and none of the school authority have come to Thoungamba's residence till date, she claimed.
Maintaining that the corpse was claimed on April 4 and the last rites held on the same day, the chairperson stated that the decision (to claim the dead body) was taken following an assurance from the authority concerned to provide the post mortem report at the earliest and to take up necessary legal actions.
However, the Government and the authorities concerned are yet to translate their assurances into action till date, she lamented.
She further stated that the JAC will continue to launch different forms of agitation until its demands are fulfilled by the Government.
