First batch of handloom weavers awarded certificates

Kangpokpi, April 06 2018:
A certificate distribution ceremony for the trainees of the first batch of handloom weaving training course, conducted by Commerce and Industries Department, Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Kangpokpi was held today.
The ceremony was organized by Sadar Hills Autonomous District Council Handloom & Handicrafts Society Limited at District Council Conference Hall.
Haokholal Hangshing, Chairman ADC Sadar Hills, Thangjakam Misao, Vice Chairman and T Manihar Singh, Chief Executive Officer, SHADC Kangpokpi attended the occasion as dignitaries.
Certificates were distributed to 15 trainees who have completed the six months handloom weaving training course, by the ADC Sadar Hills Chairman in the presence of Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, SHADC Kangpokpi and other elected Members of ADC Sadar Hills.
Taking forward the PM's 'Skill-India' initiative in the District, the ADC administration had kicked off the training course last year with a motive to help the weavers of Kangpokpi district.
Haokholal Hangshing congratulated the successful weavers for their determination during the training while motivating them to be a role model for women in the district.
The Chairman also appreciated the tireless effort and contribution of the two instructors and awarded them with a cash award as a mark of gratitude and appreciation.
Underlining the necessity of training and holding certificate in order to avail facilities provided by the Government, the Vice Chairman urged the women community not to hesitate to take part in such initiative as the Government will provide facilities to only those who have obtain training certificates.
He further said that the second batch of the training will begin shortly where intensive training will be imparted to the weavers to help them develop new designs, add value to their products and enhance their earnings.
