Judicial custody for murder accused

Imphal, August 18 2020:
Santosh Sonar (25) accused of murdering co-worker Sajjad Ahmed has been remanded to judicial custody till September 1 by Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal West today.
Santosh Sonar hails from Tinsukia Assam and he was arrested on August 13 for allegedly murdering Sajjad Ahmed on the intervening night of August 12 and 13 at Langol St Savio School.
He was produced before the Court via video conference after the completion of 5 days police custody period of Lamphel Police Station.
Investigating Officer of the case through APP submitted in the Court that during interrogation, Santosh disclosed that on the day of the incident, three of them Sajjad Ahmed (victim), Debadas Tanti (co-worker) from Tinsukia Assam and him were drinking alcohol.
After drinking alcohol, Debadas went to sleep.
A heated argument about labour charge then broke out between Santosh and Sajjad Ahmed (victim) which resulted in the accused hitting Sajjad's head with a bench, submitted the IO.
The Court after hearing the submission of IO, remanded accused Santosh to judicial custody remand till September 1 .
