Imphal, August 18 2020:
Six student bodies namely AIMS, AMSU, DESAM, MSF, KSA and SUK have appealed to the State Government to fulfil the demands of college teachers in order to bring an end to the woes faced by students.
The six student bodies in a joint statement, said failure to comply with the recommendations of the UGC regulations 2018 by the State Government has disturbed the academic atmosphere of colleges in the State.
While college teachers could not be promoted to Professors due to the failure, the much demanded 7th Pay has also not been implemented.
The act of 'victimizing the college teachers' should be stopped at once, student bodies said.
Stating that the implementation of UGC regulations 2018 can bring lots of positive changes in the academic atmosphere of colleges, the student bodies also said that the State Government should implement the updated recommendations or regulations from time to time issued by the UGC or Education Ministry, without waiting for someone to put it up as a demand.
Due to the pandemic, all the educational institutions have been closed however the college teachers were giving online classes.
But this has also been stopped as the teachers have launched a strike demanding their rights leaving the students high and dry, it added.
Considering the situation, AIMS, AMSU, DESAM, MSF, KSA and SUK have appealed to the Government to bring an end to the issue at the earliest.
