Committee examines sawmills, stone crushing units, MIE

Bishnupur, February 17 2020:
Under the aegis of Bishnupur Forest Division, district-level monitoring committee for Wood Based Industry took out inspection drive at different sawmills, stone crushing units and newly established Minor Industrial Estates (MIE), today.
The drive was attended by the Committee chairman cum DFO Bishnupur, Dr Rebika Soibam Chanu; Manipur Pollution Control Board scientist, Kh Tomba and All Manipur Saw Mill Welfare Association president RK KiranKumar among others.

Speaking to media persons, Dr Rebika Soibam Chanu said that the drive was carried out to check if the owners of the sawmills, stone crushers and MIE possessed required license and documents for opening the factories.
Saying that opening such a factory without obtaining necessary license or registration is against the law, Dr Rebika appealed all to contribute their shares in conserving the forest.
