PHED employees to go on strike

Imphal, December 15 2011:
Setting December 18 as the deadline for securing the safe release of Chowkidar of Irilbung Water Supply Scheme Soram Ibomcha (50) and his son Yaiphu (25), who have been abducted by armed cadres of KCP (MTF) Kesho group in connection with monetary demand to the department, employees of Public Health Engineering Department (PHED) have decided to go on cease work strike from the following day if the abducted father-son duo were not released.
This was announced during a Wakat Meepham staged by the employees in front of their office gate at Khuyathong today.
Ibomcha and his son, Yaiphu have been abducted by armed cadres of KCP (MTF) Kesho group on the night of December 7 and their whereabouts still remain unknown since then.
The abductors reportedly rang up the worried family members informing that the abduction is related to the non payment of monetary demand served to the department and they should also exert pressure on the officials of the department for securing the safe release of the
abducted father-son duo.
