CEO meets political parties

Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) PK Singh today held a meeting at his office with representatives of different political parties in connection with the by-election which would be held on November 7 in five Assembly segments.
Representatives of political parties who attended the meeting urged the CEO not to give election duty to employees who are residents of the particular Assembly segments so as to reduce the number of postal ballots, informed a source.
The CEO asked the representatives to ensure that their respective parties abide by the COVID-19 SOP.
Later, the CEO held another meeting with DCs and ROs and discussed the points/suggestions raised by political parties earlier in the day.
The CEO asked the DCs and the ROs to formulate an action plan regarding COVID-19 specially for the by-election, conveyed the source.
The CEO further discussed about security arrangements for the by-election with the SPs concerned.
It is said that Central paramilitary forces would be deployed for the by-election.
Subsequent upon another meeting between the CEO and the nodal officers, expenditure monitors have been put to work, said the source.
Notably, Wangoi AC, Lilong AC, Wangjing-Tentha AC, Saitu AC and Singhat AC would go to by-polls on November 7 .
