65th Wildlife Week Celebration 2020 ends ; TSE staffer collects first prize

The 65th Wildlife Week Celebration 2020, observed from the first week of this month, came to a close today with a simple function held at Forest Head Office, Sanjenthong organised by Wildlife Wing, Forest Department.
During the function, awards and prizes were distributed to the winners of different categories held during the week.
Every year the first week of October is celebrated as Wildlife Week throughout the country to renew the commitment to preservation, protection and conservation of our rich wildlife and biodiversity.
Addressing the gathering Awangbow Newmai, Minister of Forest, Environment and Climate Change congratulated the winners of different categories and appreciated the activities taken up during the Wildlife Week 2020 .

Lauding the officials for successfully organising the Wildlife Week 2020 amidst COVID-19 pandemic, he said participation from different stakeholders will increase in manifold the awareness on conservation of forest and wildlife.
Urging the award and prize winners of different categories to continue with their efforts in raising awareness on wildlife and environmental conservation, he asked the department officials to continue their hard work to conserve the forest cover for future generation.
Under the 'State Level Wildlife Protection Incentive Award 2020' held among different groups and individuals, awards were distributed to People for Animals Manipur, Unique Wildlife Protection Committee, Manipur; Wildlife Explorer Manipur, Safe Environment Campaign Committee, Save Wildlife Foundation, Mordecai Panmei and Major Arun R (AR) and team.
For the 'Online State Level Wildlife Photography Competition 2020' held under the theme: Avifauna of Manipur, first prize was given to Laishram Shamungou Singh for his photograph on 'Yellow Breasted Bunting', second prizes to Khoyumthem Brajesh Kumar for his photograph on 'Amorous Northern Shovellor Pair & Harmenn Huidrom for his photograph on 'Slender Billed Babbler' and third prize to Elangbam Premjit Singh for his photograph on 'Wood Snipe/Black Spine' .
Under the 'State Level Slogan Writing Competition 2020' held for Class VI-VIII, Huirem Brajesh Singh (Class VII), Kanawon Ruth Raikhan (Class VIII) and Luisinthuiliu Phaomei (Class VI) were given first, second and third prizes respectively.
Consolation prizes were given to Zaenivar Tongsin (Class VIII) and Jenny Abonmai, (Class VIII).
For the 'State Level Slogan Writing Competition 2020' held for Class IX-XII, John Tongsin (Class IX), Nengneihat Kipgen (Class X) and Huirem Luxmipriya Devi (Class X) were given first, second and third prizes.
Consolation prizes were given to Raiyui Hungyo (Class X) and Tongjam Sanamacha Singh (Class XII).
The function was attended by K Angami, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forest Force (PCCF and HoFF); L Baite, Additional PCCF and MBB Member Secretary; Dr AK Joshi, Additional PCCF(Wildlife) and Chief Wildlife Warden; officers and staff of the Forest Department, Elangbam Valentina Devi, brand ambassador of CM's Green Manipur Mission among others.
