Senior citizens concern over bomb blast series

Imphal, November 03 2013: A Core Committee meeting of the Senior Citizens for Society, Manipur held on October 31 has taken serious note over the ever increasing incidents of bomb blasts in Imphal area during the last two months, causing death and injuries to innocent citizens and untold sorrow to the families of the victims, apart from creating panic and fear psychosis in the minds of the general public.

The meeting took note of the fact that although the blasts at MG Avenue near Majorkhul on October 18 and the IED explosion at North AOC on October 29 did not result in human casualty, the October 29 bomb blast at Marwari Dharmashalla in Thangal Bazar area left five innocent civilians including two students wounded and the October 30 blast at a public bus waiting shed close to Hicham Yaicham Pat Memorial complex of Bir Tikendrajit at Yaiskul Janmasthan led to lost of lives of three innocent van drivers and left four other innocent civilian injured.

Condemning these 'these inhuman and meaningless acts of bomb blast at public places causing death and injury to innocent public', the meeting fervently appealed to the unknown perpetrators of the crime to deeply introspect before committing such acts of violence which does no good to anyone including themselves.

While appreciating the State Government's announcement of ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the net of kins of those killed in the Yaiskul blast, Rs 50,000 each to hose seriously injured in the two latest blasts including the one at Dharmashalla and Rs 20,000 to those with minor injuries, the meeting of the Core Committee also expressed serious concern over the intelligence deficit of the State force for prevention of such human tragedies and appealed to the State Government o leave no stone unturned to make up the said deficit and do the needful for ensuring security of life and property to the people.
