AR organises community service and security meet

With an aim to interact with the local populace as well as to sensitise them in regards to the existing security situation in the area, Units of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (South) organised community service and security meets today at Thingjang village and Thoubal.
A press release from IGAR (s) said that the community service was organised by Yangangpokpi Company Operating Base (COB) of Mantripukhari Battalion at Thingjang village.
The interaction was conducted to familiarise and orient troops of the COB with the locals as well as to identify their customs and traditions, it said adding that the event commenced with an offering of prayers followed by an interaction with the villagers.
Over 70 villagers shared their issues during the interaction programme.
On the other hand, as part of the security meets conducted by Yairipok COB of Thoubal Battalion and Tulihal COB of Tulihal Battalion, locals were updated on the current situation existing in their area of responsibility.
An interaction programme was also carried out to maintain a strict vigil against illicit activities in the area, future action plan in respect of civic action projects, it said and continued that the attendees were also sensitised regarding the ill effects of drugs.
