The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) while paying homage to the brave women of the Nupi Lal called upon the people of the state particularly women to take a firm decision for saving the society on the occasion of the Nupi Lal which will celebrate tomorrow.
In a statement of the front signed by its publicity secretary, T Leisemba exhorts the courage of the women of the state and stressed the need of taking a firm decision for the upliftment of the society.
The first rare incident of its kind in globe, Nupi Lal which marked by women fighting for rights occurred in Manipur in 1904 and the second in 1939 and both the incident were against the British Colonial rule, the statement recalled putting down important of the events.
The courage of the women that showed at that time becomes clearer day by day.
It shows the courage and spirit of the women of the state in the globe.
In the globe so many wars ranging from smallest to the largest fought but all vanished in due course of time.
Above this all have common future as it were fought among the men groups.
The observation of the day every not only help in spreading the courage of the Manipuri women but also pave the way for women participation in the people's issues of the state.
On the other hand government is efforting to divert the women with programme related with women depicted as luxury and fashion material to entertain.
The government instead of hearing to the voice of the women, they were suppressing using security forces and detaining them under NSA and other acts.
The struggle of Irom Sharmila has been spread worldwide but government in Manipur as well as at the Centre did not efforted in bringing an end to her demand through negotiation or fulfilling the demand for repeal of the AFSPA.
State government instead of efforting for the upliftment of status of the women of the state, has been giving kin interest in holding unrelated function related with Gandhi, Nehru and Indian leaders families related programmes, the statement criticized.
