Gaikhangam inaugurates Chavang Kut celebration

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam inaugurated the Chavang Kut celebration, 2014, which is an autumn festival of the Kuki-Chin-Mizo group that marks the ending of the harvest season, at Galnoam Ground in Moreh in Chandel district on Thursday.
The three-day long celebration is held by the Chavang Kut Celebration Committee, Moreh.
Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, MLAs Manga Vaiphei, D Korungthang, IFCD minister Ngamthang Haokip, Autonomous District Council, Chandel Chairman Lukhosei Zou and many local leaders were present on the occasion.
Gaikhangam in his speech on the joyous occasion urged the gathering to strive for development by sticking together so as to join the global development pace and avoid advocating communal ideas and thoughts.

He said Chavang Kut is celebrated in the spirit to bring universal brotherhood among the people, adding this festival unites all and shows oneness.
The Kuki-Chin-Mizo brethren should play a big role in upholding integrity, Gaikhangam urged.
Gaikhangam said the job for shaping a good society begins from individual level, but added that there is no hope in communal activities.
"Let's promote unity and bring prosperity" .
"Moreh is a strategic area for international trade and now we should explore the opportunity.
I appealed to all to cooperate with various development projects undertaken by the Government," he said.
