JD(U) urges Govt to resolve ILP issue

Imphal, July 28 2015: JD (U) Manipur State Unit on Tuesday has strongly reacted to the Ibobi Government's inability to bring a solution to the current widespread ILP agitation and Sapam Robinhood killing.

It also targeted BJP Manipur for making double-standard statements and for trying to earn 'political brownie points' in the wake of the current uprising.

Speaking to media persons at JD (U) State unit office, party president M Tombi said, "The State Government has always failed in bringing about a solution to any kind of issues and has always kept things in uncertainty" .

On the 38-hour general strike called by the Spam Robinhood JAC, Tombi said "The demand for JAC is reasonable and the public angst is understandable.

Our party also supports the demand by the JAC that the police personnel and higher officials including the SP involved in the killing should be suspended.

Timely action would have taken to avoid such general strikes which have a huge impact on the common people" .

M Tombi also blamed the State Government for unnecessarily delaying in taking up action for the passing the new ILP Bill as political parties have given their recommendations long time back and said restarting the entire process in not required, he added.

JD (U) also condemned the manner in which all educational institutions in the State have been closed by the Government due to public agitation.

Tombi also insisted that the State Government should pass the ILP Bill at the earliest to calm down the public angst and for this the Indian Constitution must be amended if necessary as it has been done many times before.

JD (U) State General Secretary Lian Gangte, who also attended the press meet said, "The current ILP issue will be brought up in the All India Janata Parivar meeting to be held in New Delhi" .

Lian also strongly attacked the BJP Manipur Pradesh for being double-standard by making confusing statements on ILP issue.

He said such statements are condemnable and the party's suggestion for passing an Ordinance first and later a Bill is indeed ridiculous.

"Since an Ordinance is only for six months, I think Chaoba is waiting for such similar uprising to happen after six months again" .
