With 23 deaths, state records highest ever single day fatalities

The state on Wednesday reported another record high number of fatalities with 23 deaths in 24 hours, which is the highest ever till date, along with 582 new positive cases.
With the addition of the new cases, the active caseload in the state has reached 6817 out of which 4342 are in home isolation and the remaining 2475 are undergoing treatment in healthcare facilities including CCCs.
The last seven days reported 4229 new cases and 109 deaths while the current month reported 9679 new cases and 230 fatalities.
So far, 13,077 new positive cases and 280 fatalities have been reported since the beginning of the current year.
The 23 fatalities reported on Wednesday included a 56-year old male (IE), 85-year old male (IW), 38-year old female (BPR), 87-year old male (BPR), 72-year old male (BPR), 81-year old male (BPR), 65-year old female (BPR), 55-year old female (BPR), 82-year old male (Kak), 60-year old female (Kak), 62-year old male (CCpur), 51-year old female (IW), 75-year old male (IE), 84-year old male (IE), 35-year old male (Tbl), 80year old female (IE), 50-year old male (Tbl), 31-year old male (IW), 53-year old male (IW), 65-year old male (IE), 30-year old male (IE), 38-year old male (Ukl) and a 28-year old male (IW) .

The patients succumbed at Shija Hospitals (4), CCC Bishnupur (4), Jivan Hospital (2), DH Churachandpur (1), Babina (1), JNIMS (6) and RIMS (5) hospital.
The cumulative number of deaths is 635.According to official reports, the 582 new cases include 570 civilians (275 male & 295 female) and 12 personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF).
Their samples were tested at RIMS (83), JNIMS (60), Imphal West (59), Imphal East (4), Maipakpi (9), SIELMAT (1), Hillside (1), RMCC (1), Samaritan (3), GILEAD HC (11), Little Clinic (1), RD Wing (5), Raj Medicity (26), Ema Hospital (4), Peace Hospital (1), Advanced Hospital (2), Imphal Hospital (4), Jivan Hospital (7), Shija Hospitals (91), Babina Diagnostics (118), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (19), Kakching (9), Churachandpur (15), Chandel (11), Senapati (6), Tamenglong (2), Ukhrul (10), Kangpokpi (5) and Tengnoupal (3).The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (137), Imphal West (278), Thoubal (19), Bishnupur (26), Kakching (20), Ukhrul (11), Churachandpur (51), Chandel ((11), Senapati (6), Tamenglong 2), Tengnoupal (3), Kangpokpi 5) and Pherzawl (1).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 347 patients were discharged from CAPF (26), home isolation (240), RIMS (10), JNIMS (1), BB (12), NSU (16), SHRI (8), Babina Speciality Hospital (2), CCC Lamboi Khongnangkhong (5), Jivan Hospital (3), Thoubal (8), Bishnupur (2), Ukhrul (12), Kangpokpi (1) and Senapati (1).The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 41,265 (general population - 37,548 and CAPF personnel - 3,717).Number of recovered cases is 33,813 (general population - 30,250 and CAPF personnel - 3,563) and number of active cases is 6817 (general population - 6668 and CAPF personnel - 149).The recovery rate is 81.94 per cent.
In the last 24 hours, 1355 D type Oxygen Cylinders and 523 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities in the state.
As of Tuesday, 3,23,391 individuals have been administered Covid vaccines.
CCR report informed air passengers, who travelled into the state on (i) May 11 by Indigo flight 6E-2251 in rows 31-37 and (ii) May 8 by Air India AI-889 in rows 18-24 to report to the Common Covid Control Room 1800-3453818 or respective District Surveillance Officers (DSO) for further surveillance and necessary testing.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (14,600), Imphal East (9546), Thoubal (3115), Churachandpur (2821), Kangpokpi (1356), Tamenglong (1647), Bishnupur (2176), Senapati (930), Ukhrul (958), Kakching (1599), Chandel (807), Noney (483), Tengnoupal (467), Jiribam (386), Kamjong (334), and Pherzawl (40).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (233), Imphal East (163), Thoubal (68), Churachandpur (50), Kangpokpi (17), Tamenglong (7), Bishnupur (44), Senapati (4), Ukhrul (8), Kakching (22), Chandel (12), Noney (1), Tengnoupal (3), Jiribam (1), Kamjong (2), and Pherzawl (0).However, the figure does not match with data released by CMOs of some districts.
The state health authority is not willing to provide district-specific case status despite repeated request from media.
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 13,298 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 19,282 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 2,15,719 tests per million population against the national average of 2,30,118 TPM.
Case fatality rate rose to 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 3095 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 18.80 per cent while the cumulative positivity rate further rises to 6.15 per cent.
