Indefinite general strike on Pallel-Moreh road from Oct 20

The United Tribal Peoples' Organisation (UTPO) resolved to resume indefinite general strike along Pallel-Moreh road including the banning of Highway construction from the midnight of October 20 as the State Govt have not taken any concrete decision to fulfill their charter of demands which include revocation of Yangoupokpi Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary, revocation of 'Reserved Forest' tag to some villages in Tengnoupal District, revocation of the banning of Sand and Stone mining in Tengnoupal District and withdrawal of the proposed new Police outpost at 9 different locations along the Asian High Way namely Thamlapokpi OP, Lulun Lamkhai OP, between Tarao Lamkhai and Senam OP, Khongkhang OP, Leingangtabi OP, near Lokchao Bridge OP, Kwatha Lamkhai OP, T Zoumunaum Village OP, ADC Office Moreh OP, said a press statement issued by UTPO.
It further informed that medical, customary and religious occasions including electricity are exempted from the purview of indefinite general strike adding that the GoM would be responsible for any untowards incident happen during the general strike.
