ICDS Project Supervisor hits out at SWD

Expressing regrets over the delayed supply of food supplements to Anganwadi centres under Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), Chandel district, Supervisor Martha Saka today lambasted the Social Welfare Department for not supplying the require food supplement to the project officer.
She was speaking as a resource person in the Consultation Meeting on Right to Food (PDS, ICDS and MDS) organised by PDS Action Committee in association with Weaker Section Development Council (WSDC), Christian Social Development Organisation (CSDO) and Indo Social Services Society (ISSS) at the Maha Chiefs' Association Hall.
Martha Saka said that Social Welfare Department is a very important department which helps in healthy growth of a child, right from the womb of the mother.
However, the food supplements meant for pregnant mothers and children could not be delivered to the targeted population since the officials of the department have not supplied the required food items, the food supplements are instead distributed after every three or four months, she revealed.
She further pointed out that these food supplements are not meant to be distributed to every household in the village but only to the rightful beneficiaries.
If the food supplements provided are of sub standard, people should file complaint to the department, she extorted.
The meeting was attended by chiefs of different villages in Chandel districts and members of village authorities.
Member of Chandel District PDS Action Committee Sakil attended as moderator.
