Jiribam, September 12 2014 :
Following the institution of check-posts for screening of Ebola virus at Mao gate, Moreh town and Imphal Airport recently in accordance with World Health Organisation's appeal to countries for vigilance against the virus, Jiribam sub division in Imphal east district today opened a check-post for Ebola virus.
However, due to shortage of medical staff, the working of the check-post would not be efficient.

'Even though there has been shortage of staff in the CHC Jiribam, we are trying to manage the check-post anyhow under instruction from higher authority', said Medical Officer in-charge of CHC, Jiribam Dr.G Sharma, while adding that the screening for Ebola has been done with simple digital thermometer instead of the Contact Laser Infrared Thermometer.
Saying that a team of IDSP, Imphal east may be visiting the check-post for the screening, he appealed to the people not to be panic on the Ebola virus.
Ebola Virus, which is said to have originated from West Africa, has spread mainly to the Republic of Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leon and Nigeria.
