One killed in blast, another bomb found planted

Imphal, September 03 2012:
A 23-year old young man lost his life with his body shattered into pieces when a bomb exploded at the side yard of his house at Nongpok Keithelmanbi under Thoubal district this morning.
The incident occurred at around 6:30 am when the victim went to get his fishing rod.
The victim has been identified as Sanabam Chonjon alias Mani, s/o late S Gopal of Nongpok Keithelmanbi.
According to family members, S Chonjon was a truck handyman.
As his truck was out of order, he had been staying in the house for the last two days and went to fishing to help the family.
The impact of the bomb blast suspected to be some Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was so great that face of the victim was smashed beyond recognition and both his hands and legs were blown apart.
A police team picked up the body and deposited at the mortuary of JNIMS hospitals where the post mortem was later conducted.
According to reports culled from the site of incident, a neighbouring kid had come to ask Chonjon to go for fishing just before the bomb blast.
No sooner Chonjon went to the side yard of his house to get his fishing rod, the bomb exploded with a thundering sound.
According to police reports, since Chonjon was not from a well to do family, all possibilities of triggering the bomb blast over monetary demands or threats may be ruled out and the exact reason for triggering the blast is under investigation.
The people of the locality have also approached to the local local MLA Th Shyamkumar to press for an investigate into the incident.
Meanwhile, another bomb was found planted at the gate of Khoirom Tondon, an aspiring candidate in the upcoming election for Pradhan from Top Chingtha Gram Panchayat.
Wrapped in a plastic bag, the bomb was found at the gate of the candidate this morning at around 4:30 .
The bomb was later detonated safely by bomb experts of the State Police Department.
