NH-2 witnesses truck hijack attempt

Imphal, May 03 2017:
An attempt to hijack a Tata truck ferrying farm chicken moving towards Imphal was was launched at the same place where convoys of tankers have been frequently attacked in the recent past.
Despite beefing up security measures along the particular route after the attack of IOCL tankers on April 18 and April 30 inflicting injury and damage to drivers and vehicles, the unknown miscreants attempted to hijack the truck bearing Regd.No.NL01-L-4501 at around 9.30 am yesterday.
However, police and commando personnel reportedly rushed to the site and managed to stop the hijack attempt.
The unknown miscreants fled on seeing the security forces .
The unknown miscreants also reportedly took away Rs 3600 from the driver of the truck.
According to Bijoy, driver of the truck, he was travelling with his two assistants when 6 persons armed with stones stopped them in between S Changoubung and Kangpokpi DHQs and asked him to step down from the vehicle.
The police and commando personnel deployed in the area brought the driver and the vehicle along with the two assistants till Kangpokpi police station and they were escorted from Kangpokpi police station towards Imphal.
