Biswajit asks MANITEX 2019 organisers to ensure smooth preparation of the event

Textiles, Commerce and Industries Minister Thongam Biswajit today chaired the first meeting of the State Level Programme Committee for organising Manipur International Textile Expo (MANITEX) 2019, at the conference hall of Manipur Secretariat (South Block) .
During the meeting, the Minister asked the authorities concerned to ensure that there is no laxity in the preparation process and make sure that the programme is a grand success.
He also stressed on sending invitations to the authorities concerned of neighbouring States so as to expect their participation/attendance in MANITEX 2019 .
Underlining the need for proper publicity of the 10-day long event, he instructed the officials to raise awareness of the exhibition through radio and TV channels, adding that these are some of the few mediums which could reach the people at far flung areas of the State.
He said that awareness should also be made through national papers, hoardings and social media to reach out to more people.
While asking to include a cycle rally in the pre-programme publicity drive as similar to previous year, the Minister also mooted the idea of including a tree plantation drive.
Biswajit suggested a special Khadi Design fashion parade as well.
Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd Chairman, S Rajen, MANIDCO Chairman Radheshyam Yumnam, Principal Secretary (Textiles, Commerce & Industries) P Vaiphei, Special Secy (Finance) B John Tlangtinkhuma, Handloom and Textiles Director Lamlee Kamei, Joint Director E Jiten and other officials of the department were present in the first meeting of the committee.
Meanwhile, later in the evening, the Minister further chaired a meeting with entrepreneurs of the State organized by the All Manipur Entrepreneurs' Association and Department of Textiles, Commerce and Industries, GoM at the same venue.
During the meeting, he observed that entrepreneurs are vital in fighting against the issue of unemployment while adding that successful entrepreneurs should extend assistance to younger entrepreneurs.
Biswajit attended to the problems and grievances highlighted by the entrepreneurs during the meeting.
In response to the entrepreneurs, the Minister said that the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana has provisions for setting up of food testing laboratories in small units of individual entrepreneurs.
He also observed that a logistics park is very important for a State to encourage industrialization.
The event was attended by Manipur Handloom and Handicraft Development Corporation Ltd Chairman, S Rajen, MANIDCO Chairman Radheshyam Yumnam, Principal Secretary (Textiles, Commerce & Industries) P Vaiphei and Director of Trade, Commerce & Industries, C Arthur Worchuiyo and other officials of the department.
