National Food Security Mission Rice begins

Along with launching the National Food Security Mission Rice, Agriculture Minister Abdul Nasir today inspected the condition of arable paddy fields in Bishnupur district.
During his inspection, Minister Abdul Nasir came across paddy fields which have been completely dried up due to absence of water.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the visit, Minister Abdul Nasir said that there is the urgent need to set up an Agricultural Land Policy in the state.
The agricultural lands also need to be identified.
The agricultural lands should be protected and preserved and irrigation facilities provided.
For this, Minor Irrigation, CADA and Agriculture department should come together and chalk out the necessary strategies.
Earlier, the Agriculture Minister launched the National Food Security Mission Rice at Moirang Phurit Mandap.
Speaking on the occasion as Chief Guest, Minister Abdul Nasir said that the government has taken up certain measures for supplying sufficient quantity of fertilizers to the farmers.
So, there would be no shortage of fertilizers in the state.
He also informed that distribution of water pumps would be initiated and urged the people to give cooperation in the developmental programmes being taken up by the government.
The function was presided over by MLA M Prithiviraj.
