Imphal, April 01 2011:
NSCN(IM) cadres has allegedly banned Tamenglong ADC chairman from attending the DRDA office at Tamenglong district HQ.
He has been warned of dire consequences if he happens to visit the office in future, ADC chairman G Soihen Haomei said.
Talking to Hueiyen Lanpao, Soihen said that for the first time after he was elected as chairman of the ADC, ex-officio chairman of the district DRDA, he had visited the DRDA office at Tamenglong district HQ yesterday.
He was escorted by around 30 security personnel in
the journey.
He left Imphal around 6 am and reached the district HQs around 11.30 am.
After meeting with leaders of some villages and having had lunch, he proceeded to the DRDA office around 5 pm.
When he was in the office, NSCN(IM) cadres led by their town commander asked him to close down the office.
Before leaving the office premises, they also threatened him of dire consequences if he re-opened the office.
He asserted that he will discharge his duty as DRDA chairman by opening an office in Imphal or at a secured place within the district.
But, he was concerned about the inconveniences that would be caused to the people of the district.
In the meantime, he alleged that he could not discharge his duty as DRDA chairman properly due to the pressure from MLA Awangbow Newmai who insisted to issue contract work orders under the DRDA Tamenglong district at his demands.
