Farmers urge Govt to revive LLI project to its full capacity

A farmers' meeting at Bishnupur Ward No 4 has formed the "Loktak Lift Irrigation Farmer's Association" today and it has urged Government to revive the Loktak Lift Irrigation Project to its full capacity.
Speaking at the meeting, Election Campaign Committee, Bishnupur chairman, N Sanajaoba expressed the need for reviving the LLI project to its full capacity and said that the Government should look into the plight of the farmers who depend on the project for agricultural activities.
The LLI project, established in 1972 would benefit more thousands of acres of agricultural land, he said urging authority concerned and the Government to replace the water pumps in pump house No 1, 2 and 3 .
Expressing the need for reconstruction and modification of the existing canals, he appealed the authority concerned to finish the construction of Imphal High-Level Canal and Moirang High-level Canal in time to facilitate the farming/agriculture in the areas concerned.
N Sanajaoba was elected president of the Loktak Lift Irrigation Farmer's Association with Th Roshankumar Singh as secretary and L Premila Devi as treasurer.
Social workers L Ramo, P Lokendro, A Sanajaoba, S Neelakumon and BJP Bishnupur Kendra president L Premila also attended the meeting.
