Rally demands free zone status for Khuman Lampak Sports Complex

A large number of players and coaches today staged a protest rally demanding the government to convert Khuman Lampak Sports Stadium a free zone from non-sports activities.
It may be mentioned that the sacred place of the players of the state which has earned fame as powerhouse of sports has of late become a junction for all types of activities ranging from public vehicle parking to opening of government offices thereby causing various inconveniences and hindrances to the players who come practicing.
Around 2000 players and coaches of SAI, RCC, National Sports Academy and other clubs participated in the rally and ousted the oil tankers which were found parking inside the complex and told the drivers not to park there in future.
The protestors also went to the ADC office inside the Youth Complex and told the officials to shift the office at
the earliest.
Later a memorandum containing a charter of demands was submitted to the Chief Minister.
The demands include removal of ADC office and quarters from the Sports Complex, closing the southern gate of the IRB post and prevent parking of trucks and private vehicles inside the compex.
It also demanded to remove the water filling scheme near MMTA and Artificial Football Ground, to stop selling cigarettes, Khaini, Zarda and other intoxicants and tobacco products inside the complex, open a PHC, provide sufficient and safe drinking water, stop any kind of activities other than RCC and Sports Coaching before the schedule of coaching time, open security check point at the different main gates of the complex to monitor visitors and to stop selling drinking water by PHED inside the complex.
THe protestors also demanded to withdraw the FIR case registered against SAI coach Th Kirankumar.
