Fishery official assaults fish farmer

Imphal, July 13 2011:
A fisherman who went to acquire back his money collected from Ngayok Marup by Fishery officials on the pretext of giving loans and subsidy to fisherman was assaulted by a Fishery official.
The person who was assaulted has been identified as one Sagolshem Suranjoy hailing from Uchiwai.
He was the Personal Assistant of MLA DR.Ratankumar for 4 years.
He was assaulted by the DFO of Fishery Department, Birmani.
Speaking to media persons at a press conference held at Manipur Press club today, the victim, S.Suranjoy said that DFO (Fisheries) Imphal East,Birmani collected around Rs.50,000 to Rs.1.5 lakhs from some Ngayok Marup of Mayai Lambi area in 2008-09 .
The total amount would come to around Rs.20 crores.
.SSuranjoy along with President of Ekop Ningthou Ngayok Marup Md.Lukunga and Secretary N.Ranjan went to Birmani's office on July 11 .
They just started enquiring about the deposited money when suddenly Birmani took out his license gun and knock him on the head by the gun and beat him badly.The other two of who accompanied him were also beaten up by Birmani's security guard and later handed them to the police, they were released by the court on false charges.
He appealed to the concerned to take up action against Birbabu dismissing him from his job.
