AMMPWA demands reservation in admission

The All Manipur Muslims ( Meitei Pangal) Welfare Association (AMMPWA) has issued a press release with regard to their demand for extension of 4% reservation in favour of the Meitei Pangal students for admission in general courses.
The AMMPWA, in its silver jubilee celebration submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister, Manipur.
The memorandum included a list of 14 points for the development of Meitei Pangals in Manipur.
After subsequent discussion between CM and AMMPWA a high level committee of important CSOs of Meitei Pangals and officials of the Government was constituted by the CM on December 4, 2018, to translate the demands into action.
The work of coordination was entrusted to the then Additional Chief Secretary GOM, Dr Suhail Akhtar.
A draft Cabinet memorandum was also prepared by the Minority affairs and OBC Dept.
The file concerned was submitted by the MOBC in March 2019 .
AMMPWA further stated that reservation for OBC should include general education as per the judgement of the Supreme Court.
AMMPWA reiterated its demands to be included as a policy of the State Government at the earliest and to comply with the promises assured in the previous meetings held with the representatives of CSOs
including AMMPWA.
