Ukhrul youth 'Mayerser' feted for bravery

Mayerser T Shimray of Chingjaroi village was feted today for his brave act of saving lives of four residents of Talui village during a programme organised by Talui Reisang Youth Club at Pre-Centenary hall, Talui village, Ukhrul.
Heredity headman of the Talui village, S Akhai expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mayerser on behalf of the villagers for risking his life to save four native villagers (Vareiyo vashum, Mathanmi Raikhan , Yurngathing Vashum and Ngaranchan Shangjam) from a strong water current of Chingjaroi river on October 22 .

The Talui village authority hosted the felicitation programme to honour and show their gratefulness to Mayerser T Shimray for his valorous act in saving his fellow villagers who were in great danger, the headman said.
During the felicitation function, Mayerser narrated how he rescued four persons who were in a helpless situation as the truck they were riding was stuck in the midst of the river whose water current was too strong due to incessant rain.
He swiftly swung into action to tie the truck with iron wire and pulled the truck out of the water with the help of the youths present on the river side, he narrated.
Meanwhile, V Pamlei acting headman of Talui village , extended heartfelt gratitude to the youths of the neighbouring villages Bhaipung, Ngari and Chingjaroi, who were involved in humanitarian services and assisted in rescuing the village people from the grievous situation.As a mark of gratitude to Mayerser, the Talui village gifted Rs 20200 along with Tangkhul shawl Haora as ADC member Kapangpam Zimik honoured him with Rs 20000 .
Acknowledging his heroic act of rescue, Talui Shanalong also presented a Tangkhul traditional muffler and a generous individual, Z Tungmaso gifted Haora to Mayerser.
