Imphal, November 03 2020:
Amid efforts to get accreditation of the University Grant Commission, the conduct of some of the staff to malign the image of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Institute of Agricultural Sciences is unfortunate, said its Director Dr RK Imotomba today.
Speaking to media persons at the administrative block of the institute at Utlou, Dr RK Imotomba said the issue surrounding the institute will be reported to the governing body for disciplinary action against the staff concerned.
The institution was established in 2017 and has colleges of Agriculture, Horticulture, Fishery and Forestry.
Above this the institute offers BTech Agri Engineering, BTech Food Technology and BSc Sericulture courses.
It is also offering intermediate course Science with Agriculture under COHSEM.
Efforts are on to open a School of Horticulture and Centre for Advanced Studies in Agri Biotechnology at Kameng Khunou, he said.
The institution has not received any grant or financial assistance.
The institution is run solely by the fees collected from students.
The institution has been closed since April due to COVID-19 pandemic.
It will be opened following the order and guidelines of the Government.
Without collecting fees from the students, the institution cannot pay salaries of the staff.
It is unfortunate but the institution solely depends on the fees collected from the students, he said.
Mentioning that the governing body had decided to pay the salary of the staff, he said that the institution is applying for overdraft sanction in a Nationalised bank.
The institution is taking up all steps to pay the salary of its staff, he added.
