Imphal, July 23 2009:
An allegation against police of one-sided in dealing with the case related with the incident erupted out over the ownership of a plot of land at Waithou under Mayang Imphal recently by the opposition has been rejected by the state chief minister O Ibobi who is also looking after the home portfolio.
Opposition member of the House, O Joy of MPP today moving a call attention motion in the house of the state Assembly strongly charged of police of one-sided attitudes in the dealing the case related with the injuring of two member of a family when they were attacked with deadly weapons like spade and dao on July 18 last.
Recalling the incident O Joy said that in the attack on that day one Sagolsem Lemjaobi (45) son of late Tomchou of Mayang Imphal Maibam Sagolsem Leikai and his younger brother's son Ibomcha sustained injuries.
They sustained injuries when allegedly attacked by Kshetrimayum Joykumar, his son Nimai, Wanglen of the same locality with the former along with Wangkheimayum Ibomcha son Nilchandra and his son Shyamsunder with spades and daos.
Locals provided the names of the alleged culprits to an ASI posting at Mayang Imphal police before they evacuated the two injured persons.
But the ASI failed to put the names of two alleged accused which was mentioned in the complaint lodged by the victims' families to the police.
The police did not put their name considering the service careers of the two men, O Joy alleged.
Of the two persons, Ksh Nimai is serving as mandal in the state revenue department and Wanglen who appeared in the interview for the appointment of IRB.
The attitudes of the Mayang Imphal police are not satisfactory one.
Police instead of taking up action to punish culprits under the law of the land, has colluded with some vested interested persons who can afford money and power.
Police has played with the victim family, he observed.
Even though police could not take the statement of the critically injured of the sister, they can take the statement of the less injured Ibomcha.
But this does not happened on the part of the police.
Giving reply to the motion, chief minister said that the quarrel arose out of controversy over the ownership of a plot of paddy field.
Police has registered a case after complaint was lodged.
Police, in the follow up action arrested one person named Wangkheimayum Ibomcha and remanded in the police custody till July 27 and searching for another man alleged involved in the incident Ksh Joykumar.
He is searching by the police and after arrested truth behind the incident could be established, Ibobi said.
