Cultural festival re-invigorates our tradition for better outlook: MK Preshaw

Former Deputy Speaker MK Preshaw expressed that the Tangkhul villages annual cultural events is an occasion to re-invigorate the tradition by showcasing the village traditional cultural items to preserve the identity for a better outlook while addressing the inaugural function of Chingjaroi Ngachaphung village "Khamor Angkhui" festival today.
SK Ngazek, Headman of the village said that the five day cultural festival "Khamor Angkhui" is a celebration to.
invoke blessing for bountiful harvest before starting any agricultural activities in the village.
To mark the festival, grand feast are organised for all to renew the feeling of oneness and togetherness, he added.
Further he asserted that the village endorses the State Government's 'War on Drug' and urged the public to partake in the movement and strive for a drug free society.
MK Preshaw inaugurated the five day cultural events by hoisting the village flag, followed by unveiling of the monument at Ngachaphung ground in the presence of headman and villagers.
Speaking on the occasion, he highlighted about different developmental and welfare programmes initiated by the present N Biren Singh led Government to bring equal development in fair manner and improve the economy of every citizen.
He mentioned that the State Government encourages start up programmes to support young entrepreneurs to sustain the economy and be self-reliant.
Further he appealed to all to uphold the good practice of the fore fathers to work hard instead of indulging in illegal activities like drug business, alcoholism etc which are the main factors to lose the credibility of one's society.
Therefore the Government started 'War on drug' to eliminate all social evils, he added.
Later he announced to construct a toilet complex and assured the villagers that he will urge the State Government to set up Tribal Museum in Chingjaroi village.
Traditional dance and song reverberate the echoes of Chingjaroi ancestral life styles while Razshang Kashangsew war dance enthralled the audience.
Later, the chief guest distributed blanket to all village authorities and to elders above 75 years and GI sheets to some selected families as a part of the festival.
