Thoubal, May 24 2020:
In a brutish incident of mankind becoming wilder than wild animals, all the four eyes of two ponies tethered at Ikop Pat have been gored and blinded in addition to flogging them mercilessly.
The two horses belong to Elangbam Amarjit Meitei and Kh Chaoba of Khangabok Khullakpam Leikai.
Incidentally both Amarjit and Chaoba are active members of the Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Committee (WBCC), Manipur which has been taking key roles in protecting and conserving wild animals in the State.
As Amarjit went to Ikop Pat to see the horses in the evening of May 22, he found the horses lying on the ground unable to move.
He found that all the four eyes of the two ponies had been gored with a sharp object.
The legs were also found badly wounded which made the horse incapable of standing.
Meanwhile WBCC secretary and Joint Coordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity convenor Romesh Ningthoujam has asked what possible reason could be there for any man to treat the innocent horses in such a brutal manner.
It is reported that a complaint has been lodged at Thoubal police station regarding the incident.
