Total active cases now reach 28 : 3 more test COVID-19 positive

Following a spike in the number of COVID-19 positive cases by three, the State's total COVID-19 active cases have reached 28 .
According to a press release issued by Additional Director (Health) and COVID-19 Common Control Room spokesman Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, three more individuals tested positive for COVID-19 since late last night till today, and all of them are returnees from outside the State.
An 18 year old boy from Churachandpur who returned from Chennai recently tested positive for COVID-19 at JNIMS late last night.
Two more positive cases were detected at RIMS today.
One is a woman from Thoubal and the other one is a man from Jiribam.
The woman from Thoubal came back from Delhi while the man from Jiribam returned from Pune in a car.
Thus, the total number of COVID-19 positive cases has reached 32 in the State and it include 28 active cases.
All the active cases are being closely monitored by health workers, said Dr Sasheekumar.
Out of 204 and 285 samples tested at RIMS and JNIMS respectively since late last night till today, only three samples were found positive.
Truenat machines recently installed at RIMS and JNIMS have started working.
As such, the State's COVID-19 testing capacity would improve significantly.
The cumulative number of test done so far is 4583, said the press release.
To prevent spread of COVID-19 among the general public, returnees should observe quarantine rules strictly and sincerely.
If anyone develops symptoms of COVID-19, he/she may contact State helpline number 1800-345-3818 for guidance, it added.
The first case was recorded on March 24 when a young lady tested positive for the virus while the second case was recorded on April 2 .
She had returned from England where she is studying.
The first two patients have been cured while two others, a mother and a son who had returned from Mumbai have also been cured.
All positive cases have come from those who returned to the State from outside.
