Imphal, May 24 2020:
The Relief Centre for the Welfare of Differently Abled Person, Manipur distributed various food items to differently abled persons of Muslim community in Porompat Pangal Leirak and Thambalkhong Sabal Leikai of Imphal East district and Kwakta Sangthong of Bishnupur district, in lieu of the festival of Eid-Ul-Fitr.
Media advisor of the relief centre Nimol Ningombam along with programme manager Moirangthem Premier led the distribution programme and distributed items of rice, dal, potatoes, onions, mustard oil and other food items.
Social worker Jamkholet Khongsai extends help to Muslims
On the other hand, intending candidate of Autonomous District Council Chandel, Jamkholet Khongsai also distributed edible goods to around 400 households in Moreh Muslim Nagar in view of Eid-Ul-Fitr festival.
Manipuri Muslim Council Moreh vice-president Abdul Hamid expressed gratitude to social worker Jamkholet for the kind gesture.
He also handed over 200 bottles of water and Rs 10,000 to the Addl DC of Moreh L Manikanta, to assist the inmates of Moreh Quarantine Centres.
Various CSOs, groups and individuals also extended help by providing different relief items and other goods.
Face masks distributed; disinfection drive conducted
The COVID-19 relief committee of the Social Cultural Educational and Sports Development Organisation (SCEASDO) Heirok in association with the Councillors of Heirok Nagar Panchayat Ward No 7 and 9, Kh (o) Jayentimala and E Premjit respectively, conducted spraying of hypochlorite solution in Heirok CHC campus and the Quarantine Centre in Khangarok.
Apart from the spraying exercise, Kh Jayentimala also distributed face masks, food items, soap and hand sanitizers to around 110 households.
Relief items provided
In lieu of the COVID-19 outbreak, Joseph Mangvom of Sugnu Lamhang village on behalf of Memorial Charity, donated rice, dal, potatoes and cooking oil to 107 households in Chandel district today.
A short prayer initiated by advisor of Zou Youth Organisation was also said for the departed soul of (L) Jenpui Daimei Tungdim who passed away on May 18 .
PLVs stitch face masks and distribute in Noney & Tml
Para Legal Volunteers (PLVs) Tamenglong & Noney under the District Legal Service Authority Tamenglong distributed face masks to unmask passers-by in Tamenglong town & Noney Bazar.
Amid the Nationwide lockdown, Para Legal Volunteers of the two districts has been stitching face masks for distribution at free of cost.
Speaking to reporters, one PLV Aringa said that she was inspired by the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Tamenglong Janggoulen Haokip to stitch the face mask.
She added that face masks distribution will continue in Tamenglong and Noney as part of the fight against the pandemic COVID-19 .
Former BJP Vice president
Former vice president of BJP Manipur Pradesh Thokchom Jadumani provided relief materials such as face masks and drinking water for inmates of Institutional Quarantine Centre (IQC) at Waikhom Mani Girl College and Community Quarantine Centres (CQCs) opened at Khangabok Assembly Constituency, today.
Thokchom Jadumani was accompanied by medical staff and BJP office bearers and members of Thoubal district.
During his visit, Jadumani also spread awareness about COVID-19 to the inmates of quarantine centres.
The team visited Khangabok Higher Secondary School, Sangaiyumpham Higher Secondary School, Kodompokpi Sports Complex, Lamding Higher Secondary School and Waikhom Mani Girl College.
Jiribam
Rezaul Karim, PRO of local MLA, Md Ashad Udin distributed face masks and hand sanitizers for inmates of quarantine centres opened under 40 Assembly Constituency Jiribam, i.e.RK Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya and Jiribam Higher Secondary School (JHSS) .
IGAR
Expressing solidarity with the residents of Tamenglong who arrived from various parts of the country and presently under quarantine for 14 days at Don Bosco School Tamenglong, Tamenglong Battalion under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) on May 21 distributed breakfast and handmade masks to 170 civilians.
The endeavour of the Battalion was to extend assistance to the local populace in the present challenging and testing time of the ongoing Nationwide lockdown, said a statement of IGAR (S) .
VOK provides aid
Voice of Kakching, a WahatsApp group has provided Sodium hypochlorite solution (5 litres), hand gloves, hand sanitizers, spray nozzles etc to community quarantine centres opened at SC/ST Hostel, Kakching Wairi, Victory High School and Grace Cottage Academy today.
VOK representatives-Dr Th Ojit, Surjit Kshetrimayum, Nongmaithem Vikram and Rajivkumar handed over the aid to management committees of the quarantine centres.
The group has also provided Kakching Police Station with 40 pieces of hand sanitizers (100ml), it said in a statement.
Meanwhile, it also stated that it has written to the authority Deputy Commissioner and authorities concerned to dispose off the solid waste at the community quarantine centres.
