House gutted at Arapti, Lilong

Property worth over ' 2 lakh was reduced to ashes today when a house was gutted in an inferno at Arapti Maning Leikai under Lilong PS.
The fire broke out from a coop around 11.30 pm reportedly from an electric short circuit and quickly engulfed the house standing adjacent to the coop before fire fighters were pressed into service.
Local residents had earlier made desperate efforts to douse the fire, reports said.
The house belonged to Yumkhaibam Kulla but its current resident is his younger sister, Lata Devi.
Kulla's house neighbouring the gutted house was saved by the local residents even as the fire started to engulf it.
Over 300 poultry livestock in the coop, luxury items worth around ' 67,000 including gold ornaments, clothing and other items of the house were reduced to ashes in the fire.
No human casualty was reported but two cows suffered injuries in the backs.
The cows belong to Y Tomba, son of Kulla, the report added.
