Play "Challo Delhi" presented

The first part of drama "Challo Delhi" based on the story of hoisting of National Flag - engraved with a leaping tiger at the centre - for the first time on a liberated Indian soil at Moirang by Indian National Army on April 14, 1944, the day which marked the beginning of first day ofManipuri calendar year, was shown at the Auditorium Hall of Indian National Army (INA) Martyrs Memorial Complex in the presence of Moirang AC MLA Pukhrem Sharatchandra Singh as chief guest on August 31 .
The first part of the play, comprising six scenes, which went on for one hour and 10 minutes was directed by renowned artist cum director Oinam Praphulochandra of Sumang Kumhei and Theatre while artistes of Thoibi Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Moirang performed the play under his direction.
Mairembam Shanjit, grandson of Mairembam Koireng edited the play based on a book written by Mairembam Koireng while the play was focused on the hoisting of National flag by Colonel Saukat Ali Malik of India National Army under the leadership of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose along with freedom fighter of Moirang including Mairembam Koireng, Sanaba, Gopal, Hemam Nilamani and the associates of Koireng after INA claimed victory against British empire during the second world war near Moirang river at Kangla on April 14, 1944 and displacement caused by the war on the innocent public.
The play was organized under the sanction of Cultural Function and Production Grant Scheme 2017-18, Ministry of Culture, New Delhi by Thoibi Thang-Ta Cultural Association, Moirang while Moirang AC MLA P Sharatchandra Singh, Thang-Ta Federation of India president H Premkumar Singh, Moirang College retd Principal A Sharatchandra Sharma and social worker K Mohendro Singh attended the function as presidium members.
A two minute silence was also observed by the presidium members and other attendees as a mark of respect to the freedom fighters, leader of INA Netaji Shubash Chandra Bose and the departed soul during the Second World War.
Chief guest MLA P Sharatchandra Singh said that in order to bring a normal and a developed society, we need to follow the footsteps treaded by our freedom fighters Moirang Koireng and Hemam Nillamani.
