Vehicle lifters arrested, 3 Activas recovered

Singjamei police today said that five vehicle lifters with three Honda Activas stolen by them were arrested in a special drive in Singjamei area in the last few days.
The five vehicle lifters were arrested in a special drive conducted by the police following complaints of stolen vehicles within the areas cover by the PS, said Singjamei OC, Kh Sharat.
On March 27 last, the PS received a complaint of missing an Activa Honda from Singjamei Chingamathak Nameirakpam Leikai on March 18 .
On the same day of receiving the complaint, a police team of the PS launched a drive of checking two-wheelers at Singjamei bazar.
Two youths coming on an Activa Honda with no number plate were nabbed.
They were later identified as RK Naoba (26) son of RK Sanajaoba of Singjamei Chirom Leikai and Meishnam Roji (25) son of M Modhu of Chingamakha Phuramakhong.
Following interrogations, police came to know that the vehicle was lifted by RK Boy (26) of Lalambung Makhong who then sold the vehicle to them.
Boy was arrested on the same day (March 27) and remanded into police custody till April 2 after being produced in the Imphal West CJM court.
Another drive was conducted last night around 1 am at Pishum Ningombam Leirak and arrested Irengbam Gandhi from his home.
Based on his disclosure, police recovered another Activa Honda (silver colour) which was stolen by Gandhi and his gang.
While recovering the scooter, Irengbam Mochabi (27) was caught.
As per statement given by them, police came to know that the scooter was stolen by them from Sangaiporou on March 26 last.
On interrogation of the four arrested persons in police custody, police arrested another gang member of vehicle lifters identified as Salam Birkramjit (29) of Nambol bazar with a stolen Activa Honda.
He has also been remanded into police custody till April 5, the OC said.
