THE INTER state buses, which stopped service following the burning of a Guwahati bound luxury bus by KLO/KLA activists at Lahorijan in Karbi Anglong district in Assam on October 23 last killing two passengers and injuring several others, is likely to resume service in a day or two.
In the meantime the state government has agreed to pay ex-gratia to the next kin of the two persons who died in the bus burning incident.
A delegation of four representatives of the All Manipur Inter State Bus Association led by its president A Budha met Chief Minister O Ibobi and dicussed with him the situation following the withdrawal of the inter state bus services at 1.30 p.m.today in the office chamber of the Chief Minister.
Education and Transport Minister, L Jayentakumar also took part in the talks.
The government has agreed to fulfill some of the demands made by the bus association.
The association has called a meeting at 9 a.m.tomorrow to decide its future course of action, Association's president, A Budha told reporters.
Today's meeting between the Chief Minister and Transport Minister on the government's side and representatives of the bus Association decided to form a fact-finding committee to be chaired by Commissioner, Transport, H Devsekhar and comprising IGP (L&O-1), M Karnajit as member.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within two weeks.
In this regard, an order has been issued.
The Chief Minister gave assurance to the representatives of the Association to pay ex-gratia to the families of the two deceased passengers.
He also assured that appropriate protection would be given to the buses.
