Prof Jodha Chandra Sanasam recieves Sahitya Akademi Award

Columnist of Hueiyen Lanpao (English edition) Prof Jodha Chandra Sanasam, was among 12 eminent Indian Poets, 6 short story writers and 4 novelists who were honoured with Sahitya Akademi's Award of Letters for the year 2012, the highest literary recognition accorded by the Government of India, during an impressive ceremony held as part of the 5-day long Sahitya Utsav (Festival of Letters) at Kamani auditorium, Copernicus Marg, New Delhi in the evening of February 18 .
The Award of Letters comprising the copper plague of Sahitya Akademi, was presented to Prof Jodha Chandra Sanasam by Vishwanath Pratap Tiwari, the President of Sahitya in the presence of Shiv K.Kumar, eminent Indian Writer in English and Sahitya Akademi Award-winner, who graced the ceremony as Chief Guest, and other literary luminaries.

The Akademi Award, 2012 was announced in the latter part of December 2012 and Prof Jodh Chandra Sanasam was selected for the honour for his widely acclaimed novel, Mathou Kanba DNA' .
Other Sahitya Akademi Award Winners of 2012 included Chandana Goswami (Assamese), Subrata Mukhopadhyay (Bengali), Guneswar Musahary (Bodo), (Late) Bal Krishan Bhaura (Dogri), Jeet Thayil (English), Chandrakant Amritlal Topiwala (Gujarati), Chandrakant Devtale (Hindi), H.S Shivaprakash (Kannada), Makhan Lal Kanwal (Kashmiri), Kashinath Shamba Lolyekar (Konkani), Shefalika Verma (Maithili), K.Satchidanandan (Malayalam), Jodha, Jayant Pawar (Marathi), Udai Thulung (Nepali), Gourahari Das (Odiya), Darshan Buttar (Punjabi), Aidan Singh Bhati (Rajasthani), Ramajee Thakur (Sanskrit), Gangadhar Hansda (Santali), Late Indra Vaswani (Sindhi), D.Selvaraj (Tamil), Peddibhotla Subbaramaiah (Telugu) and Krishan Kumar Toor (Urdu).
Apart from allowing them to speak about their books and shared personal experiences, the Award winners also held an interactive session during which they fielded questions from the audience.
