Rural Bank staffs to strike on June 8

Imphal, May 20 2012:
Employees of Rural Bank in the whole North East region are all set to launch a day long strike on June 8 under the aegis of North Eastern Regional Rural Bank Employees Federation to press various demands.
Announcing this at a press meet at Imphal Hotel here today, General Secretary of the Federation Jibesh Chakraborty said that the demands of the employees include parity of pension, establishment of National Rural Bank of India, regularisation of part time employees and daily wages workers of Rural Bank and inclusion of workers and officers in Board of Management.
Employees of more than 17000 branches of Rural Bank in NE region would be participating in the strike on June 8.Under the present system, an employee with monthly salary of more than Rs 50,000 is getting only Rs 25,00 as pension after retirement, Jibesh said.
