6326 toilets constructed under TSC in Tamenglong

In the second day technical session of the three days long Bharat Nirman Campaign held at Tamenglong Indoor Stadium, resource person Shri.
.LPoucharei, Executive Engineer, PHED/Tamenglong speaks on Total Sanitation and Water Supply Scheme in Tamenglong District.
He said, with the introducing of Total Sanitation Campaign by the Govt.of India, low cost sanitation schemes was implemented to 6326 poor Individual House Holds Latrine (IHHL) and 376 separate toilets for boys and girls was being successfully constructed covering 199 schools in Tamenglong District.
He said, 35 Women Sanitary Complex was also being constructed in Tamenglong, Tousem, Tamei and Nungba Blocks of Tamenglong District.
He further said that, the main aims of implementing low cost scheme is to sanitise our inhabited rural areas and keep healthy themselves preventing from any kind of dreadful diseases.
Subsequently, grass-root level sanitation campaign was being conducted in the village level by the concerned department awaking them to keep clean and safe themselves by maintaining hygienic toilets, garbage even in the rural region.
In this low cost sanitation scheme, 10% was borned by the individual, 25% from the State and 65% by the Central government he added.
In his speech as a resource person, he also highlighted about the previous implementation of Water Supply Scheme in Tamenglong District.
He said, 269 villages in Tamenglong district has been cover implementing of water supply scheme accelerated Rural Drinking Water Supply scheme through Plastic Pipe Line.
But, at present the scheme was replaced by G.I.Pipeline under National Rural Water Supply Scheme.
In his speech, he put his encouragement to the people of Tamenglong to plant more trees and to stop deforestation in order to keep eco-balance system and for water source.
He said, 'Tamenglong will face drastic water problems after 20 years'.
In order to prevent this, we need to protect the present green forest from any deforestation, jhum cultivation, charcoal burning etc.
At last, he said, let us stop buying water but let us keep our land a green forest for a good water sources.
