Relief camps inspected, aid extended to victims

Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights led by its Chairperson Sumatibala Ningombam yesterday visited various relief camps opened in Thoubal district and took stock of the situation and conditions of the children at the camps.
After inspecting the camp at Thoubal Ningombam Thongju Leikai, Sumatibala acknowledged the need to conduct several medical camps at the camps to contain and prevent any illness among the victims.
We have come across many complains of minor headache, mild fever and rashes.
These need to be addressed at the earliest, she said.
Members of the commission Ch Nabachandra, programme officer Sumel Yumnam and chairperson of Child Welfare Committee Thoubal Kh Jitendra and many others took part in the inspections today at two camps under Thoubal AC and six under Wangkhem Assembly Constituency.
Unemployed Youth Learner's Association, Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai on Saturday distributed relief materials (rice, grains, salts) provided by the Kshetrigao AC MLA Nahakpam Indrajit Singh to flood victims at a relief camp.
The association has lauded the MLA for his assistance.
In Jiribam, the Deputy Commissioner of the district, Robert Singh Kshtrimayum, on Saturday distributed relief materials at various relief camps.
The DC was accompanied by officials of PHED, Revenues and Medical Departments.
The team visited relief camps at Jiribam Community Hall, Islamabad LP School, Leingangpokpi Upper Primary School, Jirighat High School and many others.
A total of 20 bags of rice, 6 bags of grains, 60 kg of onions, 100 litres of edible oil and 100 kg of salt were distributed during the inspections.
During the inspection, the medical staff treated and attended many victims (flood).
MLA Jiribam AC Md Ashab Uddin too visited the relief camps at Jiribam and provided aids.
During the inspection, the MLA provided financial assistance to the flood victims.
The MLA provided GI sheets to 16 families of Hilghat GP, whose houses have been swept away by the recent flood.
The MLA extended a sum of Rs 10,000 each to Jirighat Junior High school relief camp where the flood victims of Kamranga Muslim village are taking shelter and Jiribam Town hall relief camp where the flood victims of Kalinagar, Jiribam are taking shelter.
The MLA also extended Rs 5,000 to Leingangpokpi relief camp.
