Imphal, December 16 2012:
Expressing serious concern over the prevailing situation in the state, the proscribed United National Liberation Front (UNLF) has appealed to all the organisations to refrain from issuing inflammatory statements which may create animosity and unwanted incidents among the different communities residing in Manipur.
In a statement, UNLF asserted that since the annexation of Manipur, India has been trying to disintegrate the people living in the state with secret agendas and policies.
With its divide and destroy policy, India government is trying to suppress the united revolution of the people in the region against it.
On the other hand, UNLF and other like-minded revolutionary organisations in the Western South East Asia (WESIA) region have been putting in the best efforts towards bringing in a united revolutionary movement against for a united and sovereign WESIA country.
Unfortunately, they have not been able to build such unity due to the simplicity of the people of the region who easily fall prey to the hidden policies of India government.
To add to the woes of the revolutionary organisations, some organisations have fallen prey to the policies of the India government and come down to the level of demanding Alternative Arrangement or homeland.
However, everyone knows that the history of Manipur was not built by a single community or clan.
It is the result of the collective efforts of different communities residing in the region who safeguard the territory and sovereignty of Manipur and nurture the rich culture and traditions of the region.
However, people of different communities residing in Manipur seem to forget the past and make futile attempt to disintegrate the state in the interest of their own communities, UNLF said.
Unfortunately, some sentimental organisations from Meetei community have also come out with statements which may further widen the gap in the cracked relationships among the communities.
In such a situation, one should think rationally and then act to avoid any misunderstanding or confrontation among the communities.
No one should think of getting any type of autonomy by creating gaps among the people.
But unity and sovereignty is the only path through which they can co-exist peacefully, the statement observed.
It further appealed to the people of all communities residing in Manipur not to fall prey to the colonial policies of India government and stop issuing inflammatory statements.
